Advocacy

IPAC’s main advocacy objectives are to promote new ideas and inform the public about a variety of important academic and educational issues along with providing high quality analysis and training.  At IPAC, we embrace a broad definition of advocacy.  Through our advocacy work, we encourage intercultural communication as a key element in our rapidly changing world.

In our current moment, domestic and international issues are closely interwoven. Policy today requires domestically focused actors to understand that international issues affect not only those within their own borders, but also that domestic issues can have international ramifications.  Now more than ever, everyday life challenges impact our world on both the national and international level.  Strategies must be developed while maintaining an informed understanding of the world.

IPAC addresses academic issues that cover a variety of topics including communication, economic development, education, energy, the environment, homeland security, and defense, all of which have international dimensions.  Due to the globalization process, contemporary issues cannot be adequately addressed without the collaboration and the understanding of people from different cultures.  To be effective, organizations must focus on diverse policy issues while finding ways to work together to achieve specific objectives.  Beyond our own projects, IPAC also works in collaboration with other organizations to achieve common goals on joint projects.

People from around the world should understand how to work together and promote understanding in order to achieve their common goals.  Through our advocacy efforts, IPAC reaches out to experts, as well as citizens of our global village in order to promote a sounder grasp of the importance of national, international, and intercultural communication issues and their ramifications in decision-making processes.  IPAC achieves these goals by hosting events to bring diverse perspectives; bridging the gaps among people; promoting organizations that represent a broad focus and geographic reach; providing resources to educate the public; collaborating with other organizations to provide broad perspectives on current domestic and international issues; and providing high quality analysis of domestic and international  challenges as well as opportunities.
