Dr. Ozlem D. Gumus is an associate professor of Psychology at the Yildirim Beyazit University YBU), Department of Psychology, which she joined in 2012.
Formerly, she taught at Atilim University, Department of Psychology for 7 years (2005-2012). Professor Gumus earned her B.A. from Middle East Technical University (METU)-Psychology in 2002, two M.A. degrees from Ludwig Maximillians University (LMU)-Psychology of Excellence Program (2004) and METU-Eurasian Studies Program (2005) and she has a Ph.D. from the University of Ankara-Social Psychology Program (2009). She is currently completing her post-doctoral degree studies at University of Central Florida, Department of Political Science.
During her education, she completed four internships in several universities and research centers: Goldsmith’s College (London), LMU (Munich), Eurasian Strategic Research Centre (Ankara) and London Centre for Social Studies (London).
Dr. Gumus is mainly interested in political psychology, political leadership, Central Asian Countries, post-communism, criminal-profiling, culture and values. On these topics, she has written several research articles in peer-reviewed journals, presented at many academic and professional meetings, was invited to give talks, translated articles (into Turkish) and supervised many student projects.
She teaches both undergraduate and graduate level courses, including Social Psychology, Statistics, Research Methods, Experimental Designs, SPSS, Leadership and Political Psychology; and supervised two Master’s Thesis and will supervise a Ph.D. Dissertation in coming academic year. Her service activities include acting as reviewer for several journals Including Turkish Psychology Journal, Journal of Defense Sciences, Psychological Essays and Psychology for Kids. She has earned several awards, grants and scholarships during her career- by Rotary Club, METU and The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey. She is fluent in English and Turkish and knows German and Russian.
