Madelyn Flammia is the vice-president of IPAC. She is an Associate Professor of English and the Coordinator of the Technical Communication Program at the University of Central Florida (UCF). She earned her Ph.D. at Rutgers University and teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses in Technical Communication at UCF.
Her research interests include international technical communication, visual communication, global virtual teams, textual design, publication and production. She has also recently collaborated with scholars from the University of Limerick in some of these research areas. In addition to her teaching work, Dr. Flammia has given presentations on intercultural communication at professional conferences and for corporate audiences, and has built connections with the local business community in overseeing the department’s internship program.
Dr. Flammia is the co-author of the textbook Intercultural Communication: A New Approach to International Relations and Global Challenges (2011) and the editor of the Society for Technical Communication anthology, Perspectives on the Profession of Technical Communication. She has also authored and co-authored a number of peer-reviewed articles in scholarly journals that include Technical Communication and US-China Education Review. Her accolades include the UCF SOTL Award (2010), the UCF Internationalization Award (2009), and the UCF TIP Award (2009).
